I checked AVM on 06/11 and it said that the response has been received and to wait for 976 days...
But today lawyer called me up and said that the case has been approved on 06/11.
Could not believe the fast turnaround so checked up AVM today and voila APPROVED.

I am not on PCee\'s list but have been following the discussions and tracking all websites showing progress by the INS.
rupnet, pceegcee, isn, and seeing the progress of other individuals allowed me to keep my hopes up.
Thanks everybody who contributes to this discussion group.

And for folks still waiting. Hang on....

AD: 06/03/2002(AVM) Rcvd Approval Notice on 06/06/2002(For both of us)
I did not receive any RFE during this process.
I had called IIO may be 10 or so times and received same answers as most
of you guys.

I faxed the inquiries 2 or 3 times and one time I received a call from
INS officer(recently, 04/13/2002) saying that my case is assigned and
asked me to include the fax numbers in future queries.

I had also written a letter to Senator Diana Fienstein(on 04/03/2002)
and got the reply back saying that they have written to INS regarding my case.

I will be going for PP stamping on Monday at San Jose office.

This forum has been a great help in reducing the stress(occassionally
increasing) but I took everything in a stride.
I found couple of guys here really knowledgable and helpfull.

Good luck for all of you.

We had an interview scheduled at 8:30 am in san francisco on 11June 2002. Reached there at 7:45am. GO a little early for parking. Once entered the building drop in interview letter in the Drop BOX. We were called in 10 min . We took our lawyer for moral support and also that it is advisable as the officer cannot ask any weird illegal questions. The offcer was excellent. He was a senior officer so new all the rules, There were 2 reasons we were called. My husband had changed his job on EAD and also he had a infraction conviction as he forgot to pay for a 2$ item and had to pay a fine of $160. The officer asked the questions and he answered all that was necessary. The officer knew about the rule of AC21(change job rule). he asked him why he changed the job and weither he changed it or was he laid off. We told him truthfully that he changed his job before he could be laid off. Hearing this the officer said that it was a good dicission of changing the job also asked how was his current company doing. He verified that the job was changed after 180 days and that the job title is the same. Rest all was ok. He said the Case is approved and let us go.
Atlast the ordeal is over. Feel so relaxed 2 years wait is all over.
Let me know if you guys need any more information, you can email me at aarohig@yahoo.com
Best of luck all of you!

  Hi, Guys
I am happy to post my experience in San Jose local interview(6/12 WED)
For me, I am the one of the looooooooooongest waiter because my
I-485 was originally filed in Year 2000.(For my detailed history,
please type "jkwon" in search button.)

My wife only got an interview letter on April 20th even though she is my depedendant. I called CSC a couple of times
later, I realized that myI-485 file was also transferred to SJC ins office later, but My daughter\'s file was not transferred to
SJC office till I visited local office, waited long line and complainied.
Local INS guys didn\'t have any idea why whole my family case was handled seperatedly.
On that date 6/12/02, our family arrived at 9:30AM, went to 2nd floor
Interview hall, drop the appointment letter.
Waited till 10:30AM(Original time was 10:00AM), one gentle-looking white officer called us and we entered his office.
There is No issue at all during interview time. My feeling was that
they just want to kick us off as soon as possible after giving approval stamps. I gave my employement verification letter,
W2, current salary slip. He didn\'t ask anything and just said "I am going
to approve your case today but I need to fax your A# to washington.
  Please wait outside hall"

After waiting 1 hour outside hall, he called us again and we all entered his office again. He immediately put stamps on all
my family member\'s passport and said " Congratulation "

IT\'s Finaaaally over. It took me exactly 5 years to finish this long journey but I Got It, Got It, Got It !!!!!!!

Thanks for all of you and Hope all of you get your green card soon.
Everthing is Really matter of time, It will come thru eventually.

People going to San Jose INS for PP stamping. No need to go early OR wait in long queue. You can go around 7AM or 8AM and stand in appointment queue. If you have INS approval letter. it is like an appointment letter.

All,

I-485 approved on 06/03/2002 for my wife and me. Received approval notices in mail on 06/05/2002. Total green card process took 16 months (February 2001 ? June 2002). My details are as follows:

I-485 WAC-01-297-5xxxx
Category ? EB2/RIR (India)
Priority date: 02/07/2001 (As per Labor Certification)
I-485 Receipt date: 09/21/2001
I-485 Notice date: 09/27/2001
I-485 Approval date: 06/03/2002

AP Approval date: 11/26/2001
EAD Approval date: 12/20/2001

Finger Printing Location: Santa Ana, Orange County
Finger Print Notice received on date: 11/29/2001
Finger Print Scheduled date: 12/15/2001
Finger Printing date: 11/30/2001

No RFE. Processing resumed on 01/12/2002 as per AVM. Updated to ?Case Approved? on 06/04/2002.

I had a strong feeling that I will get RFE. My wife was pregnant when we did our medical exams, my Skin test was positive (Chest X-Ray negative). Wife changed visa status 4 times after coming to USA from H4 ? F1 ? H1 ? H4. Company laid off close to 2,000 employees just weeks after we filed our I-485 applications.

IIO Calls:
Called IIO only once during the entire Green Card Process. Called on 05/31/2002, just 3 days before my approval. IIO told me that case is not assigned yet. Asked me to wait patiently as it may take few more months.

Called AVM 3 times a week (Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday at 11:00PM PST) for last 4 months.

This board was very helpful during the long I-140 waiting stage. Did get valuable information about Finger Printing process and Passport stamping. I am so used to checking discussions on this site, I will definitely visit this site in future. Wishing speedy approvals for all of you who are waiting.

Take care,
Company1

AVM: 06/06/02 ("...Case Approved...")

The case was approved for me and my wife as per the AVM. I checked the AVM this morning.

My case had couple of issues.

1. We had a change of address before we got the FP notice. We had to use the lawyer copy for FP.

2. I was laid off before 180 days, but was on leave of absence for little more than 200 days. After that my Employer send a letter to INS stating that I was no longer with the Company(02/02). And the Company lawyer did not want to represent me as she considered that representing me would be a conflict of interest.

3. I sent a letter to INS stating that I was laid off and included my offer letter(same salary), job responsibilities (similar to my earlier job) and the first pay stub of my new job.

THANKS to everyone maintaining this website. My wife and I spent every waking moment here. Hope Desiindistress, swaran, pcee, sonofindia and everyone with us gets approved soon.

It is my greatest pleasure to share with you the excellent news that my and my family\'s cases have all been approved today! During all those waiting days of anxiety, this site has helped to pull me through and more importantly, provided invaluable information; for these I can\'t thank you all enough!

So that my case can shed any light for people in similar situations: I have used AC 21 Provision. Be encouraged and if you have strong enough cases, you should never give up hope.
