Greencard I-90 Renewal Affected by Time Out of US?

I would be grateful for any experienced guidance on the below.

I have been a US Greencard holder for twenty years and am married to a US citizen, have two US born children, and reside in the US. My current 10yr Greencard is about to expire and I have just submitted the I-90 renewal form. I spent the majority of the first five years of my current 10yr Greencard outside of the US. I was careful to never leave the US for more than a year; my typical length of time out of the country was six months, with one month back each time. I was never questioned by airport immigration officials about my travel during this period and in my mind I never intended to abandon LPR. I have now been back in the US for five years and have not left the country during that time.

My questions is, should I be worried about issues related to my time out of country arising during the I-90 renewal process or do LPRs only have to be concerned when re-entering the country? As the I-90 is such a basic form and does not ask about time out of the country I am not even sure if length of time out of the US is available to officials or reviewed. In hindsight I should have applied for citizenship years ago and will follow that course once my Greencard renewal is resolved.

Am I being paranoid or could this be a real concern for me? Thank you in advance for any information/advice you can offer.

I would say that you should not worry about it with respect to the I-90 process. Besides, now you spending the majority of time in the USA and this was the trend for the past 5 years.

Thanks. I still haven't received my bio-metric appointment notice 40 days after filing, which doesn't ease the situation. The website says bio-metric appointment notification are "mostly" sent out within 30 days of filing. I called the national help number but they do not seem to have any information.

Challenging your green card for issues of maintaining residence is initiated at the port of entry or during naturalization, not green card renewal. Your long-ago long absences won't hurt your chances for renewal.

40 days without the biometrics notice is a bit unusual; make an Infopass appointment to find out what is happening. They could have mailed it and it got lost in the mail. Do you at least have the I-90 receipt notice?

As you have been very careful in maintaining your continuous residence, it will in no way affect your renewal process. As mentioned in the previous reply, it would be better to make an Infopass appointment to know the status of your I-90. This will cut down your anxiety.

Thanks for your replies. I will certainly make an inquiry as to where my bio-metrics apointment is. I'm not familiar with Infopass but will look it up. Thanks again.

Infopass is just a service that can be used by people who have immigration issues that needs the help of an immigration officer. Just log on to the USCIS website and click on the link ' Make an appointment( Infopass)' and you will be instructed as how to proceed further.

I got my biometric appointment after 60 days. I got the whole process done (Got new GCs) exactly on 5 month anniversary of application. This was about 1.5 years back and in Colorado.
