GreenCard Approval while outside the country on Advance Parole

I am a USC and am sponsoring my parents' Green Card. We got the I-130 approved and filed for Adjustment of Status (I-485) in November 2003. While it was being processed, they had to go to India and got an Advance Parole and left on April 23, 2004. The Advance Parole document requires them to re-enter the US before April 22nd, 2005.

Since then, my mother's green card was approved in August and my father's in November. I have my mother's green card and my father's should come within the next 2 months.

Question I have is:

1. Are they still required to enter the U.S by April 22, 2005?

2. Will they jeopardize their green card status if they come later in 2005 -- Say in June or in the worst case by December 2005?

I know 2 friends who were in the same situation, the immigration officer in the Port-of-entry allowed them to go in AP even knowing their GC has been approved. your parents should have no problem coming in using AP (even though legally the AP is already invalid because the GC has been approved - it's not your parent's fault that the GC got approved while they we're away)

Pardon my confusion - but if your parents were in India in August 2004, how did your parents GC get approved? Don't they need to be here for the GC interview?

Thanks
