Green Card

What good is it to stay here? You get up at 6:00 am in the morning and start your day. After a tyring day you reach home by 6 or 7 PM and then cook your food by yourself, you have to take care of your car if it broke down yesterday all by yourself, take care of your kid, if your kid's temperature is running 102 degree then you can't leave your kid to day care next day and one of you have to take off (500$ loss if you are a consultant). Do your laundry your self, vaccum. Life is full of stress out here in US, Job tension, boss tention if both are not there then fear of lay off.
After all these pains, stress level are so high, mental tention etc etc.... but what do you get in return.... fear of living in US and even if you get your so called " GREEN" Card you are bound to have all the above tention through out your life.
And even you become citizen tomorrow you are never going to overtake your colleague at your same level who is a "GORA".
Begging INS for "GREEN" card then for citizenship and dancing in the tune of INS.
Once you become old, you will not be able to leave this country and your kid will leave you for there better life.
A question to everyone....... IS it worth staying here?

I'm sorry if I hurt anyone.

Dobhi ka kutta-Washer man's Bitch

Going back to India is looked upon as a failure, and whether you like it or not, in India you still live in a society where what others think will have an effect on you.

You also have to consider that many 'not first quality' people (dare I mention Mandal Commisssion?) made it across to the US during the Y2K gold rush and if these people go back, they will have to compete against the brightest new grads and in the IT Private Companies(no reservation!), will find it tough to compete against the new grads in this new environment. The very same people who complain against discrination in the US are willing to tolerate it, nay root for it, in India.

If they manage to stay here till they get a GC, they will survive and some how find work in the US doing something or the other.
The thing is even being under employed in the US, you still can manage a decent live style.

If you are in the top 10% of your profession, you will have the same kind of demand in India or any where else.

**No offense meant to anyone- strictly my own views- many not be applicable to a few Ambedkaris**

IMHO, if u have knowledge and are good in u'r area of work, then going back home is a very good option.

Its a great place if u stop comparing it with US.

Recently one of my friend with like 6-8 yrs of IT experience in US interviewed with a software company while on a visit to India and he was offered a very very good package with visits to clients places twice a yr(min). So he will get to visit lot of countries and gain exposure than sitting in US.

Nobody considers u a loser incase u go back. On the other hand, they will feel great that u came out of a country where most of the people are prostitutes. Also they will start looking at u as a human being rather than an animal changing partners after every mating season. IMHO.

Jobs in IT will dry up since lot of work is being moved back to third world countries(India, Paki, Srilanka, Phillippines, Russia etal). JMHO....

I used to work a good company in India. We were in a project group who have hung around together via email. We were 8 people in that group, and I am the only unmarried one (one got married on Jan 17nth). So they asked me, do you want to be Bill Gates before you marry? Here is what I told them,

"Just to give you an idea of what Bill Gates is, Stanford University's MBA class every year has 365 students. An Average student in their class includes national level athletes, olympic torch bearers and gold medal winners, Navy Seals and what not. It includes sons and daughters of presidents and senators. Steve Ballmer, CEO Microsoft visits Stanford for 1 hour every year as a guest faculty to give a lecture. Bill Gates is his boss."

After hitting the send button it suddenly hit me, those Stanford University students, or Jeff Bezos, Meg Whitman, Bill Gates, Steve Ballmer (won't mention larry .. I think he is a showoff asshole) What is their quality of life? Are they working for money? Why are they doing what they are doing? Whats the point, a 16 cent dividend payoff means $100 million for Bill Gates. Why is he working so hard at almost 50 years of age? WHY?

Answer to all of the above, a passion to make a difference. And destiny.

Yes you can make a difference sitting in India. But you gotta be Mother Teresa or Narayana Murthy. Frankly Bill gates carries more clout than narayana murthy, but I wouldn't challenge either's ability. And Princess Diana and Mother Teresa died almost together. PD got so much more coverage, whereas my personal view, MT contributed way more to the society absolutely selflessly. (Debatable).

Is life in USA worth it? If you want to make a difference to the world, you need to be here. Really, do you want to make a difference to the world, or do you want to make a difference to your life? You can't have both, pick one wisely, and stay with it.

PS: Though I would want to add. INS puts a stop on the career of a lot of good people undeservingly. This eventually hurts America, and the person himself. INS is the worst thing that ever happened to mankind, and I hope they burn in hell.

Well Said !!

I am planning to start a company and do offshore projects from India. This way, I can have best of both worlds, provided I get my GC in time. I already missed one opportinity in this respect. I cursed everybody in the world and finally calmed down. I hope I get my GC b4 the next opportinity knocks on my door.

I aggree with roran, about offshore projects and enjoying best of worlds, Personally I am staying here to get a Green Card so that I can come to US whenever I want to(ofcourse I understand that I have to stay for some duration in US to maintain my GC),
There are restrictions in India, opening a firm over there, would involve lot of process, whereas over here its hastle free, I was able to open my firm last year when I got my EAD, was able to generate good revenue also, now looking for projects that can be done offshore.
Neil, I think you are a bit frustated and home sick but surely you would come out of it. We all go through this and there are times we do think from our heart and do something stupid which at times are difficult to reverse. If you want to go back why don't you go on a small vacation to India and try to explore your oppurtunities and see what works out best for you. Life would be a lot difficult specially when you have lived here on your own and survived over here. You would be comparing everything over there with your US experience. And thats the time you might start doubting your decision.
Anyways its your life, your decision and your frustation, wish you all the best in whatever your plan is.

Sanjay

Niel and to everyone acting like a bitch!

Stop your bitchin'! Don't be a pussy!

Nobody force you to come and work here! You know the consequences of coming here - to each his own!!! You cannot put in someone else your whole well being, you have to take care of yourself and your family!... if you are sick and tired of it, go back where you came from...

Everything comes with a price - and if you cant take it... the hell, go home!!!!

You should be ashamed of yourself...

rannidev,

You seem to deprived of pussy? Check with a doc.

You should be ashamed of u'rself rather than asking others. Stop bitching abt GC approval and INS. Why should they give a GC. Oh, because u have duplicate certificates or lived all u'r life in slums.

US will be a great country without u. Don't worry? Get back into u'r shit hole.

geez, what a bunch of whining losers !!!! Couldn't get into a good school in India ? boo hoo .... they had reservations mommy. Lost a job ? Boo Hoo - the goras don't like me, mommy. If you all so much better than other 'lower quality' people why is everyone from Stanford to Hyderabad kissing Bill Gates' ass ? That guy has only a high school degree! You know what people like him have which you don't ? A spine. That is what defines quality. The likes of you will always find an excuse for screwing up. Stop blaming the rest of the world for your problems - how everyone is unfair to you and you were always the victim. Life is unfair, you losers - stand up straight and face it , and just maybe you will find a meaning to your pathetic life.

oh, i do have a regular dose of pussy licking and banging, maybe you that hasnt seen or tasted a pussy...

what i'm trying to say you stupid moron is if you can't take the pressure here in america, you're better off in your rat hole... if you cant take it, go home... you undertand me, you dick freakin' shit bustin' hole... AND STOP YAPPIN' you freak slimeball sand niggin' fuckin 'sumbitch... 'nuff said...

ranniedv, my point was, your criticism even though right in it's own way (debatable), was not constructive.

I am not sure if you are married or have kids. But when a baby cries, you donot beat the baby to quieten him up. You console the baby, and as a parent you build the baby's strength until the baby can understand better.

I understand Neil isn't a baby, but the only difference between adults and babies is threshold. You have a GC. I donot know Neil's situation, but from what I read, it sounds like he is fighting for a lot. Giving him lectures about "YOU PUSSY" is just not right.

As a human being our duty towards each other is to help others, come out of their depressions, not to further press the weak down. And I seriously doubt Neil is any weaker than you are, he is just in a bad situation, which I am sure you will be one day too. It's just ups and downs.

So .. BE NICE.

Who the hell r u to tell him. He is mature enough to make that decision. If he goes back home, then there will be different kinds of pressures.
