If my H1B expires at the end of 6 year,what stage should I reach by that time in Green card instead of go out of USA? or can I process new H1B immediately?
 
Completion of H1- B & Time to re-apply for new H1-B

One should apply for I-140 before completion of the 5th year. If a person is able to do so, then he/she can get extension of H1B for every 365 days. If a person has completed 6Yr counter, he/she has to go out of USA for 1 Yr to reapply for new H1-B for re-entry.

Note: The counter of 6 Yr should be calculated from the day of arrival & departure dates.

a correction to the above msg. One needs to have a priority date before the 5th anniversary and apply the I140 before the 6th anniversary. that will make u eligible for the 7th year ext.
 
pending I-485 in the Virginia local service center

Hi,
Our employment based I485 application was transferred from Vermont Service center to the Virginia local office in Dec. 2001. We applied our 485 in Oct. 2000. Can anyone tell us know the date of appplications for which the interviews are being conducted currently.
And also, if the application is transferred to a local office, does it delay the processing?
