hi, I have a question about the green card. My green card will be expired this April, and I\'ve already fill out the 1-90 form to replace the old one, I heard that in order to get the new one, I have to wait 3 to 10 month. Can I leave this country with during this waiting time, what I should do to ensure I can come back?
 
Card vs status

Your card expires but your permanent residency status does not.
You should not have any problem to travel.
If you like to have some reassurance for yourself, just bring along the copy of the reply from the INS saying that you are renewing your card.
 
Stamp

One of my friend had a sticker pasted to the old card and they punch the old card so that the old card can be used for one more year. the sticker shows Jan,Feb,Mar: like that.

   He got this from local INS office, I don\'t know this is available in all local offices.

Infact you can get Re-entry permit on your passport too.
 
I agree with JoeF\'s recommendation.

It is safer to get renewal stamp on PP, so no trouble to face.
