Green Card validity?

Hi,

Does anyone know if you can keep your Green Card active if you decide to go back to your home country for a few years? I think you need to be in US for 6 months every year or you can lose your permanent residency. Is there a way to not lose the PR status if you are away for 2-3 years?

Apply for a Re-entry Permit. It allows you to stay outside the US for 2 years from the Approval Date of the Re-Entry Permit.
This allows you to stay outside the US continously for the 2 year period.
