actually it is an immigrant visa. I will get green card after entering US.
----- when you enter US then your passport will be stamped with GC stamp and that stamp will be valid for 1 year, you will be fingerprinted the officer will take your signature on white card and that white card will be sent to GC Card production unit and actual Card will be sent to US address in 2-3 months time.

2-3 months at this time After you enter US.
We are planning to stay for just one month as i have to complete my study for about 1 and 1/2 year more.
---- if you stay out of US more than 1 year your GC is abondned, once you come to US talk to good lawyer or apply RE-ENTRY Permit before you go out of US, Re-entry permit is valid for 2 years, you need to apply re-entry permit in US before you go out of US and can write on form I-131 for reentry where your re-entry permit should be sent, you can request that permit should be sent to US consulate in your home country and you can collect the re-entry permit if approved from Consulate. It takes time to approve reentry permit and many waiting for more than 8-12 months for the permit to be approved. talk to your lawyer before you go out and apply re-entry permit and bring any document from your college , unversity on the letterhead that states that you are studying in class........ and to compleate the course it will take XXXX time and attach the copy of that letter with re-entry permit application
