My sister is a US citizen and she is going to apply for greencard of my parents and i am less than 21 years of age..

Do I get the greencard automatically through my sisters's sponsorship to my parents(since i am under 21), or i have to wait for my parents to apply it for me??

No. You will not get a green card as a derivative based on your parents' IR-5 petition.

You have two options:

1. Your sister may sponsor you now, as F4; or
2. Your parents, once granted permanent resident status, may sponsor you, as F2.

There are age and marital status requirements in either case. Check out this flowchart to see if you qualify for other paths to green card.

thanks for the reply.. can you tel me how much time does it take to get the greencard through both of the above options, i.e, IR2 and IR 5..

Check out the visa bulletin, family-based. Either one (F2 or F4) has a long ways to go. Consult an attorney if you are not sure what is the best option for you.

Hi Everyone,
I have a question regarding my parents case. my Grandma was a citizen of USA. She applied for my mom (for greencard on 2004). she passed away couple of months ago. I was wondering what will happen to my parents' case. Is it closed now. My uncles (my mom's brothers) are citizen. Do they need to apply for my mom? I know it takes a long time if my uncles apply for my mom.
