Green Card Status after Divorce

I am a green card holder. This is regarding the status of my Green Card after divorce. I had got married in 2009 and the marriage lasted for few months. The marriage happened in good faith but it could not work out. And so it could not be continued.

My ex-husband got the green card through his job and thus I also got the green card. But as the marriage could not be continued, we got divorced. I want to enquire if my green card would still be valid after the divorce. Can I still hold the status of Permanent Resident?

Could anyone please advise me on this? I am currently out of US. Thus, can I re-enter US? My concern is to find out if the ex-husband can cancel my green card. How should I find that out? Please advise.

Yours was a derivative green card through his employment, so you got a 10-year green card and are not subject to the 2-year conditional period to prove a bona fide marriage. The green card is yours to keep and your husband can't do anything about it ... unless you got divorced before the green card was approved.

But if you spent too much time outside the US it can become subject to cancellation for abandonment (but your husband has no say in that). How long have you been outside the US? and did you divorce before or after your green card was approved?
