Green Card Received! Now A Few Housekeeping Q's, Please?

My wife just received her Green Card (I am a US citizen and we applied via spouse of US citizen).

Travel Question: we have been waiting to travel. Are we correct in thinking that all she needs is her passport and green card for re-entry back to the US? e.g. does she need to get a special stamp or anything?

SSN: Applying for a SSN. For application for a SSN, we are assuming that all she needs to bring is her passport and Green Card?

Driver's License: we are California residents. Can she get a driver's license without a SSN -- i.e. only using her Green Card?

Many thanks!

many congratulations

Yes all your wife needs is her passport and green card so she can re enter the usa

She should be able to get driving licence with passport and green card but each state tends to require different doucuments I would just book appointment and see what happens

Go to SS office think they will need to see the oringinal marraige certificate and birth certificate as well

Many thanks Susan,

Original marriage certificate. Check.
Birth certificate is in Korean (we have a translation). Is that OK?

Wow, all I thought we needed was the Green Card for the SSN, but apparently not. Thanks

go to SSA office and just show green card and passport and fill up the form. SSA office dont need birth certificate or marriage certificate(that was submited to USCIS and her I-485 was approved,)

ginnu, many thanks for your input.

i guess that's almost all of my questions solved.

the only thing is the DMV and a driver's license (CA) -- do you need an SSN or will a green card and passport do?

does anyone know? i know these things are changing all of the time.

---------------------I think you need SSN for CA driver's license NJ, MD,MA,PA need SSN for driving license, if one is on H4 visa(H4 holder cant get SSN) in NJ, MD,MA still they can get driver's license they apply for SSN and get letter from SSA office that is stamped"not eligible for SSN " and show the letter to MVA or DMV and got the driver's license till visa validity
