Green card received but with wrong info

Yesterday my greencard came in the mail but with the wrong info. I had a feeling this would have happened as they made the same mistake on my EAD card, They put my country of nationality as my place of birth. I had to send back the card with the I190 form as well as with a copy of the original I485 that was filed to show that the mistake was not on my part. My question to anyone who can answer is approximately how long does it take to get the replacement card? Thanks to anyone to answers.
 
What do you mean? Country instead of city?
That's correct.
Even on my wife's US passport there's Ukraine and not Kiev as place of birth.

And on my EAD, just received, there's Italy and not Milan.
 
I was borned in St. Vincent but seeing that I was raised in Trinidad that is my country of citizenship. On the card they put Trinidad as my place of birth. thats what I meant.
My DO is Garden City , NY.
 
Ah okay...and did you correct that information when you received the EAD with the same issue?

Just in case, if you have the copies of your G-325a and I-485a review the data that you input.
 
Yes I did review my documents and the mistake was definitely on th epart of USCIS. I sent them a copy of the my I485 to prove that I did not make the mistake.
When i first received my EAD I called INS and the lady told me what to do but because I was going for my interview the following week she said I could just wait for my actual greencard after the interview.
 
When a friend of mine received his GC on the mail, it said Female instead of Male. (all of us started to wonder abotu him... :eek: ). Anyways...he sent it back with the proper forms....and after 6 months of calls, infopass, etc...they sent him a replacement card with the same mistake :mad: . (This is why USCIS shocks me as such an incompetent, useless agency). He again re-started the correction process...no answer yet.
I don't mean to scare you for whats ahead...I hope your card gets fixed faster....but keep buggin them untill they fix it. I read somwhere here on this forum...that one can even ask a judge to ORDER the USCIS to fix the mistake at once....does anybody has more info on this...or what's that called?.
 
does the birth place really matter? if it does take longer than 6 months, I would think it's not worth it. The case machelon mentioned, the person has to fix it due to the critial error - gender, but birth place, I don't think any employer would even look at it.

That is not the only reason. You are responsible for maintaining the correct information on all government records and documents. I know this is their mistake and I understand the frustration, but unfortunately the burden is on you. Unfair heh?
 
Agree with pianoplayer.

Plus you will NEVER know when you would say the next time "WHY I did not correct this!" so better now than later even is in pain in your back.

By the way, if they have the wrong information and if in the POE they ask her something and she use part of the answer because her country of birth, they can assume she is lying because they have the wrong information. And not only that, that means that for visa accountability another country is getting a negative.

Probably does not matter in the short view but it does matter in the long one, and at the end is the responsability of the immigrant/alien to correct the information. Keep all the copies of the letters that you sent.
