Hey fhgc.,

ur posting so important & useful. I guess this is the first sharing experience how to fix the card errors.
please give some advise in son's middlename/initial not printed on card.

1) did u handover error card to the local officer.?
2) My status field in I 90 --> check one (Permanent Resident -(Commuter))
3) Date of Admission as an immigrant or Adjustment of Status --> poe date?he came on H4
4) Consulate where is Immigrant Visa was issued or INS office where status was Adjusted --> Vermont Service center ?
5) what is proof we have to show them , error is belongs to INS?

is there any important issues we should follow at Local INS?

thanks once again and for ur time.
good luck to all.

Regards.,

usinsuser99,
1) Yes, they will take the card back.
2) I checked Permanent Resident - (Not a Commuter). (Didn't think I am a commuter although I didn't understand what exactly it meant.)
3) If you filed i-485 for adjustment of status, it should be your 485 approval date.
4) For me, it's Vermont Service Center.
5) For me, it's obvious just with myself standing there (and probably with my passport and my driver's license indicating my gender). The officer also looked into their computer system to see they actually have my gender alright but they probably goofed up while making the card.
In your case, they need to make sure that your son's middle/initial is in their system. It would be helpful to bring in his passport (and driver's license if he has one). However, if his middle name is not even in their system, you have to show them (I think) a copy of your original I-485 application indicating his middle name was indeed in the application; otherwise, they may not consider it as an administrative error and may charge you the fee for it.
Remember all the above answers to your questions are educated guesses/reasoning based on my experience and what I read online. Please make your own judgement accordingly.

My wife filed the I-90 electronically because of an incorrect birthdate on the card. She got an appointment and went to the ASC to get her fingerprint, picture, and signature taken. They did not take the incorrect card away, and there was no filing fee because the the copy of the I-485 application shows the correct birthdate. They said it takes about 1 year to get a new card, but from looking around on this forum, other members got cards in about 3 months. By e-filing you can go to an ASC, instead of the local office. That is god for us, since the ASC is much much closer, and its free to park your car at.

Hope this helps some of you.

I may be wrong but I do think you need to send her card back to USCIS; otherwise, she will get a RFE in the future.

Card received but with error

hi guys,
I am new to this site.
I received my card in second week of december.
Inspite of submitting my new photographs (Fulle frontal) INS has used my
old photos on the card.
Rest of the data is correct.
Is it advisable to replace the card in this case.
I mean for kids i heard they have used 3/4 photos.
Thanks

Hopefully not, since that means one could not travel during the time that it takes to get a new card, if the stamp expires in the meantime. We'll see what happens in my case.

In my case, they gave me another passport stamp, which is good for a year. As I mentioned before, the passport stamp should be as good as your green card in most cases. If you need to replace the card, I don't see why you would hesitate to do so.

Iam planning to see the immigration officer at Federal Plaza for replacement of GC.

I filled I 90 form but , at once place Iam not cleared.
1) If you entered U.S. with an Immigration Visa, also complete the following

a) Destination in U.S. at the time of Admission
b) Port of Entry where Admitted to U.S.

Here My son came to us on H4 visa, SO can keep filled this field N/A

We would greatly appriciated in this case

usinsuser99,
I came in with an F-1 visa, which isn't really an immigraion visa. So I put N/A on my I-90 form. However, when I was interviewed with an infopass appointment, the information officer insisted that I put in the information even though I entered with a non-immigration visa. Since it doesn't hurt, I put it in anyway. I suspect it's either a mistake on the form or the officer didn't know what she was talking about. I don't really think it's all that significant since they have all the port entry information in their system anyway.

thanks for ur prompt response.

Thanks for sharing the information.
I did mine two weeks ago. Still haven't received anything from them. I hope they don't mess up again this time 'cause all I have is a pathetic slip of paper showing I paid $0 for the application.

Received I-90 Receipt from VSC today. I was appalled to see the following message (although kinda knew it coming):
"It is taking between 365 and 455 days for us to process this kind of case. We will mail you a decision as soon as processing is complete."
It took them a little over a month to order my first card and they are telling me it's going to take a year to replace it because they made a mistake on my gender. No wonder their entire process is so slow.

fhgc,

I was at the Newark USCIS on Jan 25th where I submitted the I-90. I still haven't received the I-90 receipt. Now when I first did my stamping (I-551) we were told that it could take upto a year to receive the plastic card and I received it within a month. I hope the same is true with the 'corrected card'. i.e. I hope I receive it soon (and not a year !!!).

Is there anyone who has received their corrected cards within a month or two ?

I totally agree with you. First they make an error, then I have to wait for 6+ hours in Newark to submit the I-90 and get a new I-551 stamp, and now I I probably have to wait for a year to get the corrected card ! I mean how ridiculous could things get ! In all fairness, if it is their error, shouldn't they expedite the process and send out the corrected card ASAP ?? I mean this is not a case where the GC is being renewed. This is their error for godsake ! Anyway, I guess lets just be thankful that we have the GC afterall !
