My wife had her GC interview in Nov but at the interview we had 1 document missing. We were asked to mail it within a month, which I did the next day. Its been 5 months now but we've not heard back anything.
I filed for her as a US citizen.

Has anyone had similar issues? How long does it take to hear back?

Thanks

Lalit

I applied in CT, so the processing centre was VT.
But since then i moved to New York. The interview took place in new york
In January, i personally visited the local office where the interview was held and put in an inquiry as to make sure that my docs were recieved. All I was told was that they'll follow up and reply by mail. But I havent recieved anything yet.

Before that when I called INS, they gave me a generic 2-3 year estimate. This was AFTER the interview. That sounds outrageous

Wow, 2-3 is ridiculous, i'm sure they made a mistake telling you that.
was this at NYC (Federal Plaza) or Garden City, Long Island?
I would try to speak to the officer by infopass or phone.
Did you by any chance write down the name of the officer? If not, check your passport. They normally write something there with the officer's name and result of interview.
Keep us posted.

Yeah you should def get an Infopass. Did you ever get any receipt that they got that extra document?

The interview was in Garden City. Even if I do get the name of the officer, will they even let me talk to the specific officer? Apart from infopass, where do I start to get hold of the officer on phone
I didnt get an acknowledgement for the reciept of the extra document

Your interview was on November 05 and when you moved? When you move did your wife file the AR11 and contact USCIS?

I moved well before the interview and the interview letter came to my new address. So they have the new address on file

Make another INFOPASS with all the documents, but your wife should go with you since is her application.

Good luck,

My situation is the same as yours. I went for an interview (My mother filed for me) on 10/12/2005, the officer requested more evidence, he gave me 120 days to submit it, I submitted the evidence like a week after, I have still not heard from INS. I called Senator Allen's office (VA congressman) last week and his secretary did an inquiry for me, she said she will hear from them by the end of this week. Call your congressman and see how he/she can help you. I have already made an info pass apt for April 4th. My DO is in Faifax VA BTW.

i was told by an USCIS officer that if you move within your state from that in which you have filed you would have less of a delay than moving to another state also taking into account your new DO's processing times . even if you show up in the system there will be a paper trail to that new state

thanks, i think they want three years? of taxes true?, does it have your name and spouses name on it and also did you need to have a new affidavit of support, and did they ask any questions about income other that the missing tax form?

Well what a coincidence. Today is the first time I started using this forum. And I get home in the evening to find a letter from INS to come for fingerprinting :) on the 31st.
Thanks for all your helpful responses. I'll make a post when the fingerprinting is over.

eric v,
The search feature is very helpful in this forum. Google is always available to help you get more information :)

To answer your question which has been answered a lot of times before, You only need one year of tax return when you submit your application. For the interview, take whatever you have.

http://uscis.gov/graphics//howdoi/affsupp.htm#howdoi
You are required to provide proof of employment and a photocopy or an Internal Revenue Service-issued transcript of your complete Federal income tax return for your most recent tax year. You may also, at your option, submit a photocopy or an Internal Revenue Service-issued transcript of your complete Federal income tax returns for your second and third most recent tax years if you believe these additional tax returns may help you establish the ability to maintain your household income at the governing threshold set forth in Form I-864P, Poverty Guidelines.

I am in the same situation. August 26th will make it 5 months for me as well. I already did 2 referals through the 800 # to find out what's taking so long for a decision. I made an Infopass appt. and when I got there the officer said they are just backed up. I asked her, so at what point should I be concerned? She said If I don't hear from them by Nov/Dec to come back. THIS IS JUST CRAZZZZYYYYY!!!!!!
