Green Card Interview - Birth Certificate

Hey Guys,

I have a question about my green card interview regarding birth certificate. My birth certificate doesn't have my name on it as I was named several days afterwards (as is common in my country). So I got an affidavit from my father regarding that. However, I just realized that I had sent that original affidavit with my I-485 form (and other forms) to USCIS and kept a copy of that for myself.

Now, I have been scheduled for the interview on Dec. 20th and I am wondering if I need to get another affidavit from my father or that copy of the affidavit will do since they already have my original affidavit regarding the same? I know people are not advised to send originals with their application to USCIS but I didn't know if it held true for the affidavits too.

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks a lot.

Why are you worried about providing something that you already submitted? Were you asked for it? If so, it would have been a mistake.

Well, I asked this because as I have read on this forum and my interview letter, IO will ask for my original BC. And since that doesn't have my name on it, I figured he/she might ask for the affidavit too. I might be wrong here but its just that I don't want to keep any loose ends before the interview.

Get an updated birth certificate with your name on it.

Well, my parents tried that but the officials don't do it. They say they can't have the name as its not in the records. So, the option is to basically initiate a process of "editing" record which takes around 3 months in my country. So, I guess thats not an option.
