Green card help

My wife applied for I-90 because her green card had her maiden name, back in early October 2008. Long story short we paid the fee and her finger prints were taken about 3 months ago.

She received her old green card back soon after finger print process but we haven't heard anything back from them since. Online status says it's being processed. What should we do? And also can she apply for social security number?

Any advice would be appreciated.

-----------------if her name on form I-485 was maiden name then it was not USCIS mistake.
Long story short we paid the fee and her finger prints were taken about 3 months ago.
She received her old green card back soon after finger print process but we haven't heard anything back from them since. Online status says it's being processed. What should we do?
---------------------card correction takes about 6 months. Idont know why they send her card back.
And also can she apply for social security number?
-------------she can apply SSN and if she gets new card with diffrent name then again she has to update SSA office .
Any advice would be appreciated.

I dont know why the problem was on the Card or did she changed her name after the Card and what documents she sent with form I-90.
