Green Card Filing By Previous Employer

Dear Forum,

Actually, i am on H1B for the past 2 years. Now i am planning to apply for the Green Card.

But, i am also planning to change my job, but my current employer is still ready to do GC. In this case is it possible for me to apply for GC through my current employer and leave the company.

If so, i have the following questions:

1. At what stage shall i leave the job after the processing of my GC gets started.

2. The new job which i am going to take is entirely different from my current job, so will it affect the GC processing in future (since it is based on my current job).

3. My wife is also in H1B, is it better for her to file GC seperately or as my dependant.
