I was wondering whats going on with DOL in Texas. My Labor was filed in Nov-2000 and is still stuck at DOL. Any updates for anyone who filed during that Time ? Any updates on when and what could be the future course of action from DOL ? Are there any change in laws after Sep-11 in GC-processing ? Is AC-21 rule which allow a H-1B worker to remain in US even after 6-Years (of course with the same company) still Valid ? Pls. share your thoughts.

DOL in Texas

Hi there
I just read your message and I am afraid that I do have some bad news. The DOL in Texas has a terrible backlog as you probably know by now. From the latest updates on their website, it seems that they are now handling normal Labor Certification cases received in January of 2000. The Reduction in Recruitment Labor certification which they are currently working on are those received during May of 2001.
I have however heard that the INS is trying to clear up the backlog of I140\'s in Texas by directing some to two other service centers so at least once you reach this point of your green card application, waiting should not be that long!

I have a friend that is a Mexican citizen but who has lived all of her life in the USA. She went to am American high school and speaks and writes American very well.
She is living in fear of being deported to Mexico.
Someone came to her at her job and sold a fake social security card.
This person sold several fake social security cards to employees of this restaurantand told her that they go to all of the Mexican restaurants in Austin and sell fake social security cards.
My ffriendwants to get a CSN # to use for her payroll iinsteadof the fake number.
What can I do to help her get a green card so she can legally work in America. Who can I contact to help me help her with this problem
