Green Card By Marriage Info

I am under H1 and got married in July 2001. My husband is a US Citizen and by the time filed the application for adjustment of status, it was April. My question is , when my green card gets approved (looks like about a year for NYC area), what date will be reflected as the start of my permanent residence? Will it be the date I got married? (since I will have been married and living with my spouse for about 2 yrs by the time the gc gets approved). Anyone who's had a similar experience, please respond.
In this case, when will I be able to apply for citizenship - 3 yrs from date of marriage and living together (July 2001) or 3 yrs from approval of green card (lookign like July 2003) ?

Please respond if you know anythign about this topic.

Thanks!

strongly convinced

it is 3 years after the 2 year conditional green card limitation is removed.. (know how they have that so as to make sure you are not entering into marriage to acquire a GC)
i.e. roughly 5+ years from the date of your filing for GC

as an Aisde, i have a friend who has his GC since last year (1 year). His wife has had her GC for 4 years - so in about a year she will apply for US Citizenship... by that time it will be 2 years for him.. It gets interesting here as he can either apply for US Citizenship after staying on his GC for 3 more years and completing his 5 year requirement OR he can apply after 3 years of his wife becoming a US citizen (through his wife i.e. marriage to a US citizen).. so in effect there is no advantage to him..

this makes me believe that the ruling is to be married to a US citizen for 3 years (with you being a permanent permanent resident and not a conditional permanent resident), who also has been a US citizen for 3 years prior to you applying..

hope this helps

Please note that i could be wrong...
