Green Card Application for Family

Hello All:

My sister is planning to get married to his boyfriend, whose father is applying for greencard for himself and his family (including his wife, son-my sister's boyfriend and daughter.) through asyleem. I wanted to get your opion on if my sister should wait for her boyfriend till he gets his greencard through his dad's greencard application, or should she get married now as planned. I guess what I want to know is, if she can be part of his boyfriend's father's greencard application and get her greencard with her boyfriend or (husband) instead of waiting for him to get his greencard and file a seperate greencard application through him. Thank you four help in advance.

Sincerely...

How can you tell her to change boyfriends? I hope you are joking. If they love each other, why just be with a USC for papers? It's reasoning like that that make even bona fide marriage to USC not credible. Marry for love, not papers!

Do you not realize the situation his sister is stuck in? This USCIS wait will drive his poor sister nuts. Yes, sometimes in life you have to make the right choices but at the right time. In the end of the day it's their choice.

She won't be able to obtain derivative status for a few years. Her bf's green card will take a few years, after that he has to wait 5 years to obtain citizenship, and then he can petition for her. Also, as a married son he is not eligible for a derivative green card through his father, so he would have to file for asylum himself. In that case he could file for her as well though. He should get an attorney.
