Green card application during HHR

I've a J1 visa with the 2HHR. Can I apply for the green card during the two years of home residency or should I wait till completing the two years?

I-130 can be filed on your behalf. If you are in the States already, I-485 CANNOT be filed until you spend two years at home or get a waiver.

Thanks for your reply. What about H1B? Can I begin applying for it during the second year of the HHR. My point is that I do not want to spend more than two years in country of residence.

you can start applying for it, but you cannot get the visa until HRR is fulfilled.
