greedy BCIS physician

I just went to the BCIS physician to correct my medical exam results ( some boxes unchecked). The doctor agreed to correct it but asked to do more immunation shots.

I remember that at the time I did the medical examination, he couldn't find any immunation that I hadn't done, so he gave me one useless shot: varicella (I doubt any of you had this shot) just for collecting money from me. I paied for nearly $300 for the exam.

I began to suspect he intentionally left some boxes unchecked so he could get more money. A greedy doctor!

Please share your thoughts.

I see from your posting that you went and corrected the form.
what boxes were unchecked. Around 300 dollars is ok on a average that is right.let me know what boxes he sent unchecked.
Age also plays a factor in these tests

I believe the subject of immunization shots has been discussed at least 10,000 times.

The easiest thing to do is show the BCIS-designated civil surgeon a proof of immunization. If, for some reason, such records cannot be obtained, then the next logical thing is go to your regular physician and have the shots re-administered. Most insurance carriers (even HMO's) would cover such a procedure, even partially.

Easy? Yes. Legal? Yes. Money-saving? You bet!

It's not the money issue since my company will cover the expense. It's the trouble that he brought. Listen what he said, "I can't sign the form unless you have one more shot... or you find other doctor to sign it..."

In the original form, he did check and sign the box, "Applicant is current for recommended age-specific immunizations." But in the supplemental form, he did sign the form but forgot check the item 3: results. Now he threats not to sign if I don't pay him money.

Did anybody take the "Varicella" shot? I once talked with a doctor and he said it's riduculous to take this shot. It's defintely not required by BCIS.

i took varicella shot...

basically it is the chicken-pox shot. if you never had chicken-pox in your life, or never been near a person who had chicken pox, the anti-bodies won't be in your blood. so u need to take it.

basically your lab result for varicella will be <1.0 i think. i can look up my results and let u know if u need more info.

Post the address of that doctor, so others will think twice before they go to that doctor.

I was supposed to take that shot (varicella) - my husband took it, but I didn't cause they were out of stock.

So, yes it is one of the required shots.

Thats easy, just report to BCIS :).

My medical exam experience...since my husband in army, I used his medical benefits and do all my lab test at the hospital. The panel doctor agreed with it and ask me to take all the result when its done. The full package I have to pay $285, for physical exam he charge me $80.00.

The panel doctor just need to do the physical exam, mine just about 2 MINUTES. He speak very strong Indian slang and I have to really careful to listen to it, he speaks superbly fast (like 110 word per minute)...for example:-

can you hear me, YES, okay your ears okay, can you read the words on the board, YES A B C...., good, your eyes okay, take deep breath, in ... out... in ... out...okay thank you. Pls pay $80.00.

Hmmm...thats it. One part I was glad, but I WAS EVEN GLAD he is not my doctor...phew!!!

After searching this site, I now understand more about immigration medical exam. Basically all types of immunization listed in the supplemental form should be current or waivered. When I did my medical exam, there was a severe shortage of tetanus vaccine. So the requirement for td shot was temporarily waived automatically by then INS. The bad thing about my doctor is that he didn't waived the td shot for me. Therefore I got the RFE and he can ask me to do the td shot this time.
