am a resident of chennai consulate region, got a h1b visa appntment on sep 16 in delhi

Also i am flying(forced to) to Netherlands for a short trip on sep 28 thru my employer.

during the interview, say if i get any query on my h1 like asking to get more documents (read 221 g, background checks of my US employer etc.)

R they going to retain my passport till i submit the docs asked by them?
if yes, then

Can i request consultate people to return my passport back, so that i can appear for fresh interview sometime later.

i cant risk my current job for the sake of h1.

plz help me

Dont worry

To my knowledge they dont retain any of your papers may be except the DS 156 /157 form. I fyou do not know what these forms are, they are kind of visa application forms.

They will return all the documents including your passport and pictures.

To clarify, you may send an email to them asking clarification, you dont need to give your information, you can just say, if this happens what is the process, say my friend goes or my parents goes for b1/b2 visa if you do not want to reveal your info.

Very few cases pp and degree certificates are held by embassy. Be cautious.

Some time they may acfept your request, but you have apply once again with all the fees, in this case.(fees will not be refunded)
