I am applying for a Change of Status from H-4 to F1

If f1 is rejected, does that mean I am out of status on the H4 as well?

also, does a spouse's filing i-140 actually mean that I have an intent to immigrate as well?

edit: we have not applied for 1-485 concurrently with I140. Does this mean I have shown an intent to immigrate?

If you are already inside US and COS H4 to F1, if F1 is rejected you are continued to stay in your H4 with no problem.

Filing I 140 means , that is immigration petition, so you intend to immigrate.

Filing Labor Certification / PERM is not intend to immigrate. You file I 140 to USCIS but labor certification to only US Dept of Labor.

This case occure if you go out side US and trying to get F1 visa stamped if your I 140 is pending.

Thank you! I was just worried about losing both H4 and F1 status at the same time :)
