After all the build up, we had a really nice experience this morning. We went in to the Denver DO for a 9:15 interview. Were called in at about 9:20.
The officer was really nice. Swore us in, didn't ask any questions except asking my wife why we moved to Colorado from Connecticut. She asked us for any evidence we had showing joint accounts etc. We had a lot of evidence....kept giving her photocopies of joint statements till she said enough!! She got really friendly with us through the interview and chatted about everything from her cats, her ex-husband, how she loved curry but hated the smell, how she wanted to move down south, how she lived in england for a while, spoke about our dog, how she hated the operators on the 1-800 national customer service and that they knew nothing at all!!
By the time we was done chatting and she had filed and put away all the papers we had given her.....she looked at my wife and said you'll get an approval notice in the mail shortly approving your I-130. She told me that she wished she could stamp my passport but that my FBI name check was still pending (she showed my her printed out with my A number that showed FBI check status - "Pending". She said they would check my Alien number on a weekly basis and when the name check came through she would mail me the green card.
When we were all done and walking out, my wife joked and said...."you didn't even look at our pictures". She sighed and took the photo album and looked through the pictures as she walked us back to the waiting room....kept giving me a tough time about my stubble in some of the pictures!!
We went in all serious and came out smiling.
A big thanks to everyone on the portal who helped us with their experiences and advice!!
