Grace period before OPT

Hello everyone,

I graduated in end of June 2006 and my OPT arrived on 8/21/2006. My OPT is Valid till 8/14/2007. Here is the situation: according to H1 rules, my H1 can start in OCT 2007. So from Aug 15 to OCT 1st, if I stay in US, would it be legall? There is a gap of almost 2 months.

Also, I am not sure if the Grace Period of 60 day is being used while I was waiting for my OPT card. Again, I graduated June 2006 and OPT Card came in AUg 2006. So I guess I have already used my grace period?

I cannot find answer to this question. I would greatly appreciate if someone can help me out.

usually a grace period of 60 days is applied after the OPT expiration date.

there is 2 months grace period after the end of the OPT when you can legally stay in USA, BUT you cannot work during that period. So, you will be in status till 10/15. You have not used your grace period.
