Got reply letter from USCIS on case status inquiry I did a months back -

Type of Service Request - Case Status - Outside Processing time.

Based on your request we researched the status of this case. We are actively processing this case. However, we have to perform additional review on this case and this has caused a longer processing time. If you do not receive a decision or other notice from us within 6 months of this letter, please call....

Now this is really frustrating - it seems like I would have to wait for another 6 months and then if nothing happens than only I can call them back so that they can ask me to wait for another 6 months - a endless cycle...is there any end to this..

BTW - about "additional review"...is it the same as name check/background check - if not what does it mean???? Why would they need to do additional review? - Has anyone else been in the same boat - if so what has been the end result??? Or does anyone knows how time here on am I looking at to get my case finally approved???

Thanks

EXACT same thing happened to us. We got exact same letter, too. We are still trying to figure out what it means.

Can you please provide your case details (I-485 RD, PD, EB3/Eb2 - lab.sub. or not etc..) - and how many days have passed since you receievd this letter - has there been any LUds or any other status changes....

Ash777: Call VSC directly and let them know about your case that is OUT of processsing dates and you wanna set an inquiry. Ask about your Name Check results, also. Maybe you can get an answer over the phone. Let me know.

I also filed in a TSC inquiry into my case, the CSR refused to tell me anything why there has been so delay since the I-485 receipt date of Nov 21, 2005. In general, "there may be sometime delays due to misplaced/lost cases" was the reply. I hope to hear in 30 days in writing.

I also called the congressman office, hope they do something.

My category is EB2 and PD is way past my date 3/2001.

Thanks for sharing the common USCIS tension,
Ash777
