Got renewal EAD "APPROVAL NOTICE"..Not the actual CARD

Guys,
my renewal EAD approved on 06/18/2003 and message changed on 06/24 that 'Card ordered"..but on 06/28/2003 (last saturday) i received a notice of action (Approval notice) and it stated that card will be mailed seperately and applicant use this approval notice for any employment..

Guys is this normal..I remember that last time also i recived
the card but not any approval notice for EAD..

please share your thoughts if you have received the same as mine..

renewal EAD no: WAC-03-111-5xxxx
Receipt Date: 02-23-2003
Notice date: 04-25-2003

got iead : 06/16/2003 (Valid for 8 months)

EAD approved : 06/18/2003 (old ead expired on 06/17/2003)

Approval notice says Authorization valid till 06/17/2004

it is unusual

I got mine approved (wac 03 125 ) on June 18 and online message changed on June 23 and got card on June 27.

EAD Valid from 6/18/03...

Did not receive any approval notice.

I would say wait for few more days and call BCIS info line if you dony have it by then.
 
Same here.

My EAD renewal got approved on 6/19 and now the message online says that your approval notice have been mailed to you.

Did you get iEAD anytime before your EAD approval?.if so, i think they will print our EAD card sometime later since we have iEAD card already.Otherwise they might have changed their pattern that first they will send the "approval notice" and then they will print the card and send it to us.
it's my thought....
 
What seems new is that "the applicant may use this notice" for employment. That would take care of a contentious issue in this forum, namely is it ok to work based on approval...without the physical card. My take is that it always was...but one had no way of proving eligibility to a prospective employer. That seems to be taken care of with the 'approval notice'.
 
Hi Brendon,

After I replied your mail, I checked my mail box and I had my EAD cards. Surpisingly, although they were approved in June, the EAD was valid from Aug'03 till Aug'04.

My EAD was expiring in August but I had applied in March to be on safer side.
 
Although there have been errors made by inexperienced officers, the trend seems to be to approve for 1 year following expiration of current EAD, much the same way like visa renewals.
