iam very happy, i got my passport today at san francisco passport agency,

i made an appointment in advance 14 days ago before i took the oath,

i went yesterday at 9 oclock morning , i gave them the appliction, original naturalization certificate, and i showed them a purchased ticket to japan,

i told them iam leaving to japan oct 1, they told me to come back the second day to pick up the passport at 11am

i went today, they gave me the passport and my original naturalization certificate, they told me to make sure all the information is correct in the passport,

iam sooooooohappy, i don not need to travel with RTD ANY MORE OR NP

GOOD BYE TO ALL THE SECOND INSPECTIONS AND TO ALL THE HASSEL AND STRESS IN THE AIRPORTS

Congratulations....
What is a passport agency. I thought post office is only place to apply for passport. So, can anyone go to a passport agency and get a passport. Is urgency such as a air ticket is required to get passport in 2 days?

every city has regional passport center, you need to make an appointment to go there

you call 1877 4872778
you press 1, 2, 1,1
then you choose the city where you live

if you need expedited passport the same day or the next day, you need a
ticket and your fee is 160 dollar, otherwise you dont need a ticket

Good to know. I plan to apply there when my time comes.

My friend had a positive experience with the SF Passport Agency as well. He was able to pick-up the passport on the same day. He had his itinerary with him.

As a frequent flyer to Japan I thought to advise you that If you have had any trip to Japan and were fingerprinted by Japan immigration at point of entry, be preapeard for 2nd or more inspection in their airport. They do fingerprint foreigners and will have you in their system as a citizen of whatever country you are from and all of sudden you are coming back as a USC and it will confuse them. If I were you I would take all my documents with me and will be ready to do the explanation and let us know what happened at their point of entry.
have a safe trip.

Congrats John

Did they ask you for any airline tickets 14 days ago when you made the appt?

dear LAZER

IF YOU CALLED ND SPOKE WITH A CUSTOMER SERVICE AGENT, THEY WILL ASK ABOUT TICKET AND THEY WILL GIVE YOU AN APPOINTMENT ONLY IF YOU ARE LEAVING WITHIN 2 WEEKS

MY ADVICE TO YOU, YOU CALL AND SPEAK WITH THE AUTOMATED SERVICE SYSTEM AND ITS 24 HOURS

YOU FOLLOW THESE STEPS WITH THE COMPUTER

YOU PRESS 1,2,1,1

THEN THE COMPUTER WILL ASK YOU

IF YOU NEED TO MAKE AN EARLIEST APPOINTMENT PRESS 1

OR IF YOU NEED TO MAKE YOUR OWN APPOINTMENT PRESS 2

MY DEAR LAZER YOU PRESS OPTION 2

AND YOU WILL CHOOSE YOUR OWN DATE
WHEN YOU CHOOSE A DATE THE COMPUTER WILL TELL YOU IF ITS AVAILABLE
OR NOT

IF THE DATE YOU CHOSE IS AVAILABLE , THE SYSTEM WILL GIVE YOU AN CONFIRMATION NUMBER

i arrived in japan yesterday, it was great experience with american passport

in the past they always send me to secondary inspection because i was using travel document, the whole process was humiliating

today i arrived as naturalized american citizen with a passport

the officer took my passport, scanned it and stamped it

the whole process took 1 minute,

it was the first time in 10 years since i start visiting japan i felt respected

good luck to all of you guys who are applying or waiting for citizenship

good for you JOhn
enjoy japan.. :) and don't be too despressed for losing Olympics because you have a double whammy... American & Japan both lost.... ;)

Secondray inspection has nothing to do with greencard or citizenship. They send greencard holders as well as U.S. citizens to secondray inspection. Other factors decide whether you go to secondray inspection. I went to Africa twice since 2000: one with I-94 and one with greencard. In each case I was treated as US citizen. No questions...no secondry inspection...One hint I will offer to avoid secondry inspection is to purchase your ticket online instead of through agency.

I will have to agree though that you are a free man...and moving around the whole world becomes easy even if you have to go through the secondry inspection which won't make you miss you connecting flight......

congratulationssssssssssssssssssssssssssss
