Got My EAD, info required to update SSC

Hello,
I already have got my SSC which says not valid for work.
Yesterday I got my EAD.

Should I update my SSC or do they issue a new card altogether?

does it take 5 weeks or can be updated fast.

Can I start working right away? Do I just take my EAD card to SSN bld?

Please advice.

What is your EAD Approval Date

SSN office is saying that your records needs to be updated in
some database by INS before they can do anything about your
application.I think it will take atleast 4 weeks before you can get
the udpated card.
My friend's spouse applied in Nov and got the SSN
changed from Not valid for Work to Valid for Work and it took
one month to get the new one.
My spouse new SSN application is still pending.

same feedback as sept 13. You have to apply for SSN, they will issue a new card, the SSN number will remain the same as before. takes 3-4 weeks.

What are the steps involved in getting the SSN after receiving the IEAD for the first time. Is there a time frame?.
Please let me know.
 
No time frame. But all SSN applications for residents whose first entry into US happened more than 30 days ago, Social security office will take its own sweet time to give the number. See the Social security Gov site..
 
App 10 days

We got our IEAD on 1/16/03 and My wife applied for her SSN same week. At that time SSN people told that the computers need to be updated with her records. She got the SS number by phone in 10 days by calling the toll free number.
