Hi Guys,
For your information, here is my final timeline:
Applied @ Buffalo: June 2001
File transferred to Detroit: August 2002
Submitted new forms with IELTS result: March 2003
Medical done: May 2003
Interview scheduled: August 19, 2003
Result: Immigration granted.

I did not accompany my wife though the letter specifically requested to bring her along. My interview went on for just 20 minutes. Nothing out of the ordinary. Got my passport with landing papers same day.

Feel free to ask me anything. This page has been so helpful and I would be more than happy to answer any querry.

Good luck to you all!

questions

For the knowledge of others who need an interview in the future, can you list the 2-3 questions which you thought were relatively more difficult, or which asked for info not already included in the appl ?
Thanks.

As far as the questions are concerned, to be frank, there was hardly any question that I could say was unexpected. Couple of questions regarding my past and present jobs, quick questions to verify my application information and thats it.
Something I forgot to tell you guys be4, I was earning 68 points only as per new laws though I was supposed to have 70 minimum (since I applied be4 June 2002).
He did not even mention that I am shy of 2 points.
Hope this help!
Take care.

Hi,

Congrats !!

What are all the questions they aksed you?
How many immigration officers were there?
Did they tested you in French Language?

Pls.Answer.These are helpful for me & others.

You can mail me to my personal id : sriharibe@yahoo.com

Thanks Buddy

As I posted before, the questions were all related to the job, current status and information I provided in the application. There was nothing I was not expecting. For example,
-How long you have been in States?
-Who are you working with right now?
-Why are you moving to Canada?
-Do you think you can find job in Canada easily?
-Since I am an electrical engineer, he asked 2 very basic infact funny questions to check if I am what I am.
-Have you paid your landing fee?
It was simple, to be precise!
Hope this helps..And No, no questions about language what so ever.
Take care and good luck,
Bye!

the reason why asked you is, I mentioned language ability is medium level in french. But i know very lottle french. If they test french,I will be in trouble.I am little bit worried.

The guy who sits in the front window knows french. I would say don't mention anything you can't proof, if required. My understanding is some of the immigration officers would definitely know french and if they test your language ability, it will do no good to your case.
My advice to you is to put up your case based on facts. I had just 68 points but still I went through. Its not just the points that matter!
Good luck!

thank you marrukh.

I think your case is different.
They evaluated your case as per old rules.

After 2 years I got the new immigration forms from washington to fill it up again.
if I don't mention french, I will not qualify.
They are going to assess my points as per new forms.
That's why i started to learn.
Eventhough I mentioned Medium level,I will fit for only basic.
If i put all basic ,I will get 69,If i don't put at all I will get 67.
I should get 70 as per new rules.

Pls.give me some suggestion.waiting for reply.

For Sriharibe

Dude, I would run to the local Community College and take an intensive French speaking class ASAP.
They are definitely going to ask you French if u r a citizen from a SAARC because it is rare that someone from South Asia would know French. How much % of Indian pop (even educated) has proficiency in French. Even ppl who have had French in School/College probably remember 5% of what they learnt now.
I would just try to learn as much French as possible if you dont want to be caught lying in the interview.
