Got Interview call in NY ( only in 5 months)

Hi All
I applied in June 2001 for my citizenship and yesterday I got interview letter ( which is in Feb 2002 ). in NY ( west chester county) got FP done in Aug.
I had filed using barcoded application and had called INS two weeks back to inquire about my status. Also the letter I received initially as a receipt had indicated that I should expect interview call in 54 days.
Is it great or what
Now a question:
My question is Can I travel abroad before my interview.

I also applied using barcoded application in May 2001 for my citizenship and has FP on Sep 2001. After that nothing happened.
Where do you call to inquire about your status. I applied at VSC and my local INS office is Arlington, VA. I received a letter initially as a receipt had indicated that I should expect interview call in 9 days.

In reply to your original question of whether you can travel abroad before the interview, the answer is yes ... how ever, during the interview they do ask you whether you have been out of the country between the time of the application and the interview. So, be prepared with a good answer. I dont think it should be a problem at all if the trip is for less than 6 months and you satisfy the 2.5 years "physical residence" requirement on the day of the interview. This is from my mother\'s experience with her citizenship interview ... so, please talk to you lawyer before using this advice.

I called at the Vermont number - 802-527.... number ( located at the bottom of your receipt) I am sure you will get the intrview call in a couple of weeks in not in days.

Thanks. I tried to call the INS, but I always get busy signal. I wonder how you able to pass the busy signal.

I know, but you have to keep redialing until you get through. I tried for at least 1 hour (They open at 7:30 or 8 am and you should try at that time or be sure to call them as soon as they open.)
 
N-400 2-D barcode form?

Can I use the form generate by the N-400 2D barcode software in 2002?
Because INS had a new 10 pages N-400 form. The software only have a 4 pages form! If not , Where can I find the new software ?

Please let me know how much time it takes to complete Citizenship Process at NY

I filed my N-400 in 31st Oct,2001 and I have received only 1 letter from INS ( VSC) which shows that it will take another 240 to 300 days to complete my process.
Please let me know is it really take such a long time. Because I heard that it takes hardly 6 months for complete process

Six months to process N-400 is about right...

We applied for US Citizenship at the Vermont SC on April 15, 2001 (Tax day!). We took the oath Nov 21, 2001 in the Boston district office.

Hello... I\'m a legal resident I live in New York but the next month which is February I had my appointment for make the text to became a citizen of USA. But in the year 1999 I had an accident with the police I was shopping in a Store and after I paid my bill I left the store my surprise was the alarm sounds and they toke me in to an office to discuss what they call shop lifting and then they call the police ...they took me to the precinct took my finger prints..and they don\'t release me until they get the answer about my records to make sure if I was who I said I was in all my identifications...5 long hours I spend in that precinct waiting and waiting.... till they got my papers then they let me go and they told me that I will receive in the mail the date to attend the court.
Well I went to court and they dismiss the case because I never been in any trouble never,ever and my record was clean...they made me make some hours to community service and then they told me if I don\'t get in any trouble like this again they will destroyed my finger prints records and it will be like this never happens.
But now I\'m so close to date for citizen interview and part of the request is said the truth. had nothing to hide because I was innocent and my record still clean after all this years. But my BIG QUESTION IS If this will affect my interview to became a citizen?
My husband is my sponsor he is natural born citizen from this country with a very clean record.Now he and I we are worried if this accident will make any inconviniance for me became a citizen.
Can any one help me with any answers please?
 
FYI

I mailed my application in late December. It was received by VSC 01/03/02. My check was cashed 01/18/02. A notice was mailed 01/18/02 (and this is the notice date). My priority date and receipt date are 01/03/02.

Pls keep updating when you receive FP notice and Interview call. I too mailed in my application a week ahead of yours and received the Notice receipt.
