Got iEAD San Jose - Talked to IIO

Hi Guys

Here is my iEAD experience at San Jose.

Reached at 6.AM
Entered INS office at 7.45
Came out with iEAD at 12.00 (validity of iEAD - 240 days)


Now the interesting part.

The officer took my papers, he went to a diff counter
to check something on Computer and came back.

I asked him that my I485 notice date is 1/23/2002, when can I expect
an answer from INS, he said "You should hear from us in 4-6 months"

I guess the guy gave an honest answer

What do U guys feel....

RD - 1/17/2002
ND - 1/23/2002

ND for EAD renewal is 12/31/2002
GOT iEAD which is valid till 1/4/2004

Whenever they say 2 weeks , 4-6 months etc etc means they dont know.. Period. If they say its assigned maybe you have a chance .Anything other than that is Bull Shit.

Actually 4-6 months looks a realistic time frame, looking at the current processing speed :)
 
Congrats on your iEAD.

I plan to go for my iEAD in a week. Can you tell me if it is ok to carry the copy of EAD receipt. Should I ask my company lawyer to give me the original receipt. Thanks
 
Carry photocopies of the following.

I-140 Approval
i-485 receipt
EAD receipt

If it is a renewal of EAD carry ur existing EAD card

Can you tell me whether IIO really require and check your I-140 approval notice when they issue you the iEAD? My company hold my I-140 approval notice and I do not have a copy, I plan to get iEAD at San Jose office next month.

When I applied iEAD, they didn't ask my I-140. I also didn't carry it. This is my second EAD. Perhaps they know my I-140 should be approved.
