Got H1 and H4(for spouse) stamped from India !

Hi Guies,

I just wanted to share my experience with u guies
I was on F1 visa here and had gotten H1 approval notice almost an year back. In this Xmas vacation, I went to India and got my H1 stamped from Mumbai consulate without a single question.
My case was a bit different..as I got married in this vacation, me and my spouse took an joint appointment for an Interview(For taking appoinment, you need to have the Passports, Demand Draft, and Visa Application Form along with Photo).
On the interviewday, you got to reach just 15 mins prior to the scheduled time. We were IN and they asked to Put our docs in one file given by them
1. I797-Approval Notice
2. Labor Certificate
3. Original Degree Certs.
4. Company Letter
5. Marriage Cert and 5 Marriage Photos
 We handed over the file to the person(Desi) in the consulate and we were called after 15 mins....Same person told us that our Passport would be coming home by Courier(Blue-dart) next business day.(No more pick up from the Consulate Offie on the same date in the afternoon etc..)
** No Questions were asked***
I had a fantastic experience in Mumbai Consulate...I, personally would recommend to get ur revalidation done from India if you have the basic documents with u and there is no complications in your case.

Consulate or Drop-Box ?

Congratulations on getting the Visas - I just wanted to know where did you apply - at the Bombay consulate, or one of the Drop-Box locations that they have started. Also, how did arrange for the appointment?

Do you really need Appointment

Do you need appointments for F1->H1 cases? I thought now we are supposed to use those drop boxes (even for new H4). Please clarify.

H1/H4 stamping questions at Indian consulates

Hi,

When u submitted ur papers at drop box location in Mumbai, after how many days did u get the appointment meaning the interview date.?
Was it immediate or after few days?

Is it required only for fresh visa stamps like H4 ?

What about H1 visa renewals? Do we have to go through an interview?
IF not, then after how many days do we get the passport stamped in the courier?

PLus did u submit any originals at the drop box location?

If i have to do my spouse\'s H4 only, do i have to submit my original H1 along with the other documents for her H4 if i do a drop box?
If yes, how long does it take to get the passport stamped for her h4?

Is this valid only at Mumbai or any Indian consulates?

Ur early inputs are highly appreciated

I have the same Qs..

1) Ist H1 visa was from chennai, next one from st. louis ..do I qualify for the drop box ?

2) also for H4 visa holder to get H1 visa, I think an interview is needed, so how long after you apply does the interview happen

please help
