I joined my job on a j-1 waiver in august 99, finished three years successfully in august 2002. I had approved I-140 for both national interest and labor certification. I decided to pursue consular processing on my labor and was succesful. Got green card in october 2002.

Congrats!!!

can you please let me know the dates of your LC and CP reciepts etc. Also, how far had you proceeded in the NIW direction. Can you ask for CP thorgh one way and AOS through the other. Please post some more details

Thank you

green card

1. National interest waiver-filed when I joined three years ago, I-140 approved within six months , never applied for change of status or consular processing

2. Labor-- went with regular labor( job did not qualify for RIR), applied initially in June 2000, I-140 approved in March 2002, had asked for consular processing in I-140 application. Did consular interview in seotember 2002 and was approved.

am not sure if you can apply for consular processing for one and adjustment of status for the other

Sanjna:
During your consulate interview, were you asked any questions abt ur J1 status, did you have to arrange documents to show that you have met the three year service obligation, and what sort of papers did you present. Please reply..
