Got GC stamped But what is the number

Had done CP for parents via Mumbai consulate. Finally all done and parents arrived. They have 551 stamped in their passport under US visa page. There are lots of numbers.

passport number followed by their birthdate followed by expiration 551 which is temporary green card equivalent number and then some letter with 8 numbers.

There is also a registration number on the stamp.

There is also another 8 digit number stamped in red just beneath their expiry date of the 6 month entry limit for their US visa.

How to know which is their green card number or A number?
Does anyone know?

I have no idea about the recent stamps at POE. Many years ago when my passport was stamped after interview at INS DO, I recall that the officer clearly wrote A # on the page.

In any case, you will receive the cards soon (1-2 months).
