Hi Everybody,
At first, thanks to all the people at Immigrationportal and Mr. Rajiv Khanna for this beutiful service. Without which, I'm sure will have too mamy trouble in getting our GC.
We got our GC approved on 20th Feb. It was so smooth that it became kind of an anti-climax. I was worried for several reasons. First, I have been here in India for quite sometime, so no paystuds. In fact, I lost some of my last pay stubs.
Medical on 2/10/03:
Nothing much to append here in the other people's experience, it was smooth all the way. Went to Dr. V for the check-up and got the shots.
Interview on 2/20/03:
Stayed at "Crystal Residency", as recomended by someone already, hardly 3-5 minutes walk from the consulate. Cool place.
Here are the list of the documents I produced:
For Me (in a clip):
1. Cover letter & OF-171
2. DS-230 Part I & II. Part II unsigned. I already made a copy of Part I with all the "N/A" as "NONE", signed as on 2/20/03. So nobody had to tell us to change or sign in DS-part I again.
3. Original Marriage Certificate followed by Photocopy.
4. Wedding photos & Invitation card.
5. Non-availability of Birth records, 2 affidavits, and Matriculation certificate followed by Photocopies of all.
6. IRS Tax transcript for (1999, 2000, and 2001).
7. Employment Letter (Notarized on 2/3/03) and photocopy.
8. W2 for the year 2001 followed by photocopy.
9. Medical reports in the original envelop from Dr.V.
10. IRS-9003.
11. PCCs followed by Photocopies.
12. Passport and immi style photos (3 cpoies).
For my wife (in another slip):
1. Copy of Cover letter & OF-171
2. DS-230 Part I & II. Part II unsigned.
3. Copy of Marriage Certificate.
4. Non-availability of Birth records, 2 affidavits, and Matriculation certificate followed by Photocopies of all.
5. I-134, photocopy of spouse’s Employment letter. Unsigned, needed to sign before consular officer. But nobody ever asked about it to sign or no query etc. So I feel it's not that important for EB category.
6. Medical reports in the original envelop.
7. IRS-9003.
8. PCCs followed by Photocopies.
9. Passport and immi style photos (3 cpoies).
Our PCCs were from RPO, Old city's local police station and new city's (where we live now) commissioner.
RPO PCC was more than 6 months old (9+ months), no issue at all. So, need to verify, whether this 6 month PCCs people have been talking about is valid or not, but most of the cases may be diferent from mine.
This is exactly what happened with me as far as actual interview is concerned:
After submitting our documents waited for sometime, My 2 year old son was running here and there and we got almost tired before our interview. I went for a cup of coffee. At that moment an american also came by for a cup. here is the conv:
"how're you doing?"
- Fine, thanks.
"So, which visa are you applying for?"
- Immigration.
"Oh, Ok? who is your employer?"
- Told the name of my company.
"How many people work there?"
- told so and so.
"OK!".
I didn't even know that was the guy for our interview. Then we came to the place where we were sitting. He started the usual lecture and took our oath and told us to make a line, people with kid first, senior, and others. We happened to be the first one in the line. Gave him the DS Part I & II. He saw me and said
"Oh, I already talked to you?", anyway, who is the owner of the company?"
- told company's president's name.
"Your son is a citizen?"
- yes.
"Give his PP at the counter and they will verify".
- OK, thanks.
"You're working in india for sometime ha?"
- yes.
"Whatever! nothing matters now, just sign it here and we'll try to send you home as soon as possible".
He actually observed my son and probably thought, this little guy may be trouble
. The way he was talking (attitude) looks like, you give him any kind of answer, you'll still get the GC
. Isn't that great? So, basically I guess there is nothing much to worry here.
Please shoot your query, I'll try to reply.
