Hi,

I got my F1 yesterday in Mumbai India. I had got Section 221G for some additional clearances a month back. Once the Clearance came, I got it it yesterday.

When I got my passport today with Visa, it showed the F1 expiry date as 19th September '2005 which is only 3 months. I was very surprised. All other section 221g cases have been given visa for 4 years validity with multiple entry. Mine is only for 3 month and that also single entry.

The consulate ppl say its just the time period in which I have to enter US. My stay will be decided by D/S on I-94 at port of entry.

Will this 3 months affect my case in any way? How much duration D/S I can expect at POE. My I-20 states 3 years. When I opt for Optional Practical Training later, will this thing be a problem?

Please respond urgently.

D/S duration of stay (study) determined by your school (I 20). They update your F1 status in SEVIS system.
No need to worry, start your journey.
