Got a new TN after surrendering old I-94 but didn't resign from old job yet

Hi folks,

I am working in US on TN, and recently accepted a new position with another employer. While new employer is running background checks they gave me a TN specific letter so that I could get my TN. I drove to border and got new employer specific TN. However I was not aware that they will remove my existing I-94. Now the situation is I am still working with current employer waiting for background checks to clear with the new employer so that I could resign. But I don't have I-94 anymore for this employer. What if I change my mind and plan to stick with current employer. Should I go back to border and get a new TN for current employer. Any thoughts on this will be highly appreciated.

Thanks.

You cannot work without having possession of an I-94 with them as sponsor. You should not have given up your 1st TN, and should have insisted they give it back to you when they took it out.

You'll need to make a new entry and get back other TN status, preferably with a photocopy of your old I-94 -- you are keeping copies of every I-94 you get of course?

Thanks for the reply nelsona, yes I have copies of my old I-94. So what you are suggesting I should go back to border and to get it back (or replacement). Do I need a new offer letter from my current employer or the one I used in the past will work?
