Going with B1/B2

I have a B1/B2 VISA and I'm travelling this summer to the US. I'm planning to look for a job there.

Do you have any recommendations? I'm an Industrial Engineer.

Thanks.

B1/B2 is a visitor visa and you are not supposed to work or live here with it. You are planning on presenting at our borders and present false information to the agent. If you want to work here, go through the normal channel and apply for a work visa.

"..planning to LOOK FOR A JOB..", I've never said I was going to WORK.

Of course I want to go through the regular channels to get a Work VISA, but for that I need a company that sponsors me, right? So how the hell am I going the get one if I never LOOK for a job and go through an INTERVIEW.

Who said I was going to present false information to the inmigration agent??? As we say in Spain, "metete tus fronteras por el culo, amigo".

To be honest, I also thought you were going to work there when I read "planning to look for a job there". Anyhow, your question is related more to work visa than dv lottery. I would suggest that you post your question in appropriate subforum, there are individuals who have gone through these procedures and they might be able to help you out.

Next time spanish idiot, think before you write. Some of us AMERICANS speaks and understand spanish. I dont want to reduce my level to where you are right now, so i wont translate what you just wrote in the quote above. And i hope the border agent discover the fraud you are and never let u sorry, stupid, idiot SOB into this great nation.

I highly doubt you will find a job if you come here, it also depends where your planning on going to look for a job. The US is packed and I mean PACKED with engineers, their a dime a dozen here and many us citizens who are industrial engineers are currently unemployed. What makes you think companies will go through all the trouble in spending thousand of dollars just to sponsor you?

Think about it realistically. A work visa also does not lead to a green card, well it does after like 7 years and lots of paper work and money spent... Is it worth it? No.

It all depends on your credentials. It is true that there are many unemployed engineers in the US, however if you have enough and more importantly unique experience and good track of the projects you were involved with, then you'll find the job, no problem. Of cource you have to know where to look and how to present yourself. Many and I mean almost everyone of my fellow PhD students here in the US found the sponsor to get H1B visa and most of them had more than one offer to chose from.

Thanks for your constructive help. The thing is that I also have a master in Computing and Telematics, and another one in Electronics Design. I have 10 years of experience (now I am 35 years old), and I have been working the last years for american companies in Spain (yes, I've travelled many times to US before for meetings and others). I speak Spanish, English, French and Arabic (I was born in an arab country).

My intentions were to take advantage of the visit and send a few resumes and call to some companies in order to get an interview. It is funny how people here quickly start defending their "borders" bla bla bla, but anyway, I am sick of people like them.

In all my trips to the US the companies I visited all had issues to find engineers, specially in non very known areas and small towns.

Thanks.

AMERICANS?... this is what makes me sick, people LIKE YOU, immigrants like others that when they settle in their country of "dreams" or needs and get the "papers", they start filling like superior to the other immigrants and act like if they were living there for centuries and generations...they are the most dangerous people for other immigrants, more even than the "natives" themselves.

You "AMERICAN", or better "NEW AMERICAN" or "ALMOST AMERICAN" applying for the naturalization? What kind of "AMERICAN" you are? How dare you to talk the way you did to someone who is trying to make his dreams real like if the country belonged to you? Who the hell are you to put down other's dreams menacing with "borders" and "fraud" issues?:

Also I see you are applying in Phoenix, Arizona, ... and if you understand Spanish, and being an immigrant, you have a big chance of being a latin american, such Mexican probably?

Finally you mention a FRAUD...can you explain where the hell I am saying I will commit FRAUD when entering the US? I am already going to attend meetings, and as long as the company that interviews me, knows my status of B1/B2 and the need of applying for the VISA following the regular process, the law is ok.

"algunos son más papistas que el Papa"..... that was actually Spaniard...!

Well good to see that you can atleast do a research, to answer your question, I am American and a proud one too. And no, i speak spanish and i am not a spanish origin. I have nothing against people coming here, but i am one of those who believe that one should always do the right thing, dont try to come in through the back door, if you wanna work and live here apply, if you are qualified maybe , they can let you in, and if they do, thank people like us who SERVES, BLEED to protect the freedom and way of life here that you are dreaming to have. Good luck and may the truth guide you. SEMPER FI

Pizarro you are more than qualified to work anywhere in the world. Play your cards right and hope for the best..

We are FULL... stay in your own country.

Just trying to stop you wasting your time. You're "Masters" in computing? That's a useless degree, at least have masters in computer science or something. People with doctorates are even being denied, what makes you think they should they take you on? Didn't you say before your company can't send you to work in the US because of all the paper work and money... Oh wait isn't that the same with companies in the US? So you really think a company based in the US is gonna waste time and money on a random Spanish guy IN THE MIDDLE OF A DEBT CRISIS? Think realistically.
And if your thinking "but so many foreigners get employment green cards" yeah either they are very smart "SURGEON OR DOCTOR" have a job NO AMERICAN can do or they have connections such as US relatives most of the time that sponsor them. Since you don't know anybody in the US your chance of getting a green card is zilch!

Oh shut up... Your attitude is very irritating I just sense jealousy. Don't out break rage on Americans just cause they want give your spanish butt a Green Card., I hope you don't get a green card. But I don't have to hope anyway with an attitude like yours I don't see that happening at all...

This is an immigration forum. Why would someone come here full of bitterness and hate against people trying to immigrate .. Wonders will never end..

Another good way of getting a job offer is to get an advanced degree from American University, preferably from a prestigious one. Like I said in my previous post, I know many PhD students who got a job this year (and last year for that matter), and some of them even got six figure salary. And this is in the middle of recession. In fact, when I come to think of it, I do not know of anyone who had to leave the US after graduation because of not having a job offer.

This...

If you don't then they are going to have a real hard time identifying your degree and not bother taking you on. Ask yourself, will they really trust more a Spanish foreign national with supposedly "10+ years experience" and spend time and money sponsoring him. Or will they trust more a US citizen with a masters degree from a state university with training experience and no need to spend money and time on sponsors etc.

Looks like your stuck in Spain. Best to make some friends in America who can sponsor you otherwise you have no chance at all...
