Going to work Outside U.S

I consider a job offer in Shanghai. I got my green card in since 04/06 through as primary aslyee. I have my travel document valid till Nov. My NP is still valid till this August.

If I decide to go working in China, should I renew my NP or I should use my Travel Document to apply for working VISA from Chininese Embassy?

Also, how can I keep my valid status in US as resident when I am working in China? I plan to become US Citizen in near future.

Please advice. Thank you for all of your help.

The company you will be working for in China, Is it publicly traded on U.S stock exchange? If it is, you can file a Application to preserve residency. If its not, then you can't expect to be permanent in the UNited States & China at the same time.

Green Card holder means you are allowed to live and work in U.S Permanently with no absences out of country for more than 6 months. If you do go away for more than 6 months, you need to obtain a Rentry Permit. Your clock for being a citizen starts again if your absences are more than 6 months.

Having a GC doesn't mean you can work anywhere in the world. There are standards you have to follow to still be considered "Permanent"
