Going to India without job

My spouse is resigning her job and going to India for 4 weeks and plans to look for job after coming back. I assume you can live (theoratically) in US permanently even without a job if you have GC. Please tell me if my theory is correct or if there is any cause of worry in resigning and traveling abroad.

It is not mandatory to have a job to live in the US. My wife resigned her job last year and went to India for a 2 month break. After travelling back to the US (with out any issues during travel or at the POE), she joined another job at the beginning of this year (2008).

No worry, unless she just obtained her GC via employment (as the primary) within the past few days or weeks.

Neither has mine. and the funny thing is that she doesn;t have to worry about all these issues...like when to quit her employer, etc.
