My parents are visiting East coast and they are also travelling to Niagra falls. If they travel by car to canada for few days will they be getting a new I-94 when they return back and will it be extended for another 6 months ?

Also we have applied for extension few days back and if they get extension denied which I-94 will hold ? the one they got when coming back to US from canada or the denied extension ?

Also i am not sure whether you need to submit your I-94 while leaving to canada on road ? Let me know if anybody has any views.

Do you have the original I-94 ? Have you submitted the original I-94 with extension application ?

Hey Ring- pls share your experience

Hey Ring-

can you let us know what you finally did. I am also in a similar situation and wanted to find out if you were able to get a new I-94 with fresh 6 months of stay by travelling to Canada by road?

Also- the I539 form asks to send the original original valid I-94. Why did you send a copy- and did you get the extention based on the copy?

Would greatly appreciate if you could share your experience
Thanks

Canada & Mexico are not considered leaving US

Canada & Mexico are not considered as leaving the US by the immigration.

A friend's parents had 3 weeks left in their I-94 at the time of entering Canada by flight. One week later they re-entered the US by flight. The immigration officer gave them only 2 weeks of stay in the US. The date of the previous I-94.

The immigration officer told the parents that if they wanted for 6 months, they would need to return to the country that issued thier Visa or their country of citizenship and re-enter the US.

Hi,

My parents are here on B2 visa. POE officer gave I94 for 3 months only. Can they visit Canada for a month (30 days +) and return to US and get a new I94. They plan to go via Air to Toronto and we heard that we can submit the I94 at US Airport and they will get new I94 at Toronto US Immigration.

They have a 10yr multi entry B2 visa ; they also have 3 year multi entry Canda visa.

Please let me know if somebody has a similar experience at the Toronto Preclearance POE. [Note: We need new I-94 for 2 more months only ==> total stay in N.America = 6 months ; Initial 3 months US + 1 Month Canada + 2 months in US ] so we need the I94 for the 2 months only.

Plan is to send them by Air on last day of current I-94 ; and they would give the Airlines the I-94 , stay in Canada for 31 days ; then fly back to US.
