Going for stamping, need to cross verify things, pls help!

I came to usa on J1 visa.......so my I-94 is 4 years old........i hope this is all right?

then i switched to H1 visa.......got a I-797 approval notice and nothing else.......is this all right??


i did not file any other form or anything....am i missing something??

-------------- was your H1 filed as Change of status from J1 to H1? then must have recieved new I-94 with H1 approval notice attached at lower right side? If you did NOT got I-94 attached with H1 approval notice then you were supposed to go out get H1 visa and enter on H1.

i did not file any other form or anything....am i missing something??
-------------- Check your H1 approval notice lower right side it may have I-94 attached. If no valid I-94 you may be having problems.

thanks......i can see the I-94 which is part of the I-797..

we are supposed to detach this from I-797 while boarding a flight and handover to the flight attendants, right?

----------detach the I-94 from approval notice and staple in your passport (make the copy of approval notice before you detach the I-94(make the copy front and back and keep that in your file)
*** you need to give ALL I-94 when you depart US if you have more than one I-94 then staple both I-94 and give at Airline counter before you take your flight.
** keep the copy of all the I-94(front and back in your immigration file for future records)

Hi,
I am in the same situation like u.
Where are you going for your interview? India?
Under what category did you take the date--was it emergency category and which consulate are you going to?

Can a person who has changed from J-1 to H1b and is working on H1 but it is not stamped--(so for first time stamping) go to any consulate under emergency category.
Please advice,

I have H1 stamp then J2 stamp.........and i am not going to my country for stamping......will let you know in 2 weeks how things are..
