Going for oath without Oath letter

My oath letter should have arrived by now because others who had interviewed around the same time have started receiving their letters. I do know (from the interviewing officer) that there are no background checks that are pending for my case. I also know that the CIS system, as of last week said my status was "Being Scheduled for Oath" as status for my A#. All this leads me to wonder if my oath letter is lost in transit.

What are my options?
- Can I call someone to have another letter issued?
- Can a DO issue me the letter if I go there? (I was not interviewed at the LA DO but a sub-office in El Monte)
- Can I go to the Oath ceremony without that letter? They should have the list of applicants based on the A# I presume.

Thanks in advance for the advice,

Mahesh

Hi Manesh, I'm waiting for my oath letter too and was interviewed March 10. By the way, how do you log in to the CIS system? Each time I enter my case #, it reads "our system does not recognize....". Thanks.

Call 800# and try to talk to an immigration officer. They might can look up in to your case. And can tell you whether they have send you a letter or not.

I don't think that they can issue a letter at oath place.

You can try that if you don't have to drive too much. If they have sent a letter they will have a certificate ready for you.
Thanks in advance for the advice,

Mahesh

Mahesh, you'll get it soon. Don't worry. I would just give them a little more time, unless you're in a hurry to get the certificate, in which case all you can do is probably try calling the 800 number or visiting the DO. You see, we already got the tickets to travel in the beginning of June. So, it was really important for my daughter to get her certificate asap. I don't know what would I do if she didn't. It's bad enough that my husband's name check is still pending. I just couldn't afford any more problems.

Hi Amisha, Anahit

Thanks for your advice and encouragement. This delay has caused of lot of anxiety because I am wondering if my case is getting stuck for some reason or it is just the mail that is delayed.

If I have been scheduled for oath, would the DO system give the date when I am scheduled?

And Amisha, in my earlier email, I was wondering about getting an oath letter from the DO (and not at the oath ceremony itself). Would you know anything about that?

Thanks
Mahesh

Mahesh, don't worry anout the oath letter. It's possible they schedule you to May ceremony. Last month I had the same situation. I was interviewed 2/9. I read here someone who interviewed 2/8 got the oath letter for 3/25. So I suspect my oath letter lost in the mail. And I worried a lot. Same as you do right now. I was trying to go to the ceremony w/o the oath letter. Guess what, I receive the letter on 3/31 for the oath of 4/29.

Relax, no mail is lost. Just too nervous.

LA Applier

LA Applier,

Thanks for your encouragement. I have been concerned because people interviewed a few days after me have been receiving letters. But, then I found out from the CIS that they have requested a date for my case for oath ceremony and that they have not sent out a letter. Apparently scheduling is not first in, first out, even when there are no background checks waiting for my case.

Again, thanks for the encouragement. I will keep my fingers crossed.

Mahes,
How did you find hout that they have requested a date for your case for oath ceremony but they haven't sent it out?
thanks

You can get it from the DO. If you are lucky and manage to convince the 800 cust service, they can transfer to an immigration officer who can lookup the the same information and tell you as well. But it is nearly impossible to get the 800 cust service to transfer. One lady even said that they could get fired for transferrring. I am sure she was exaggerating to some extent but I believe they probably have strict guidelines which if they do not follow, their job could be in jeopardy. So, if you can go to the DO , that is the best bet.

On another lawyer website, I was advised to seek the representative's or senator's help.

Appointment with DO

Hi Manesh, can you do a walk-in at the DO or do you have to make an appointment? And did you go to the one in El Monte or LA?
I'm like you, waiting and waiting and waiting and it's driving me crazy :( .
Thanks

I was interviewed in El Monte and that would be the most logical place to get status from. But I believe El Monte operations is all backoffice operations (except for the interview). I think (and I do not know for sure) that they may not be able to talk to individuals. So I am curious if anyone has been to EL Monte for status inquiry.
You're right, at El Monte you can not see an officer for status questions. When I was being interviewed at El Monte, I asked my interviewer to check the status of my husband's case, and he did look it up in the computer and told me that it was still pending. But when I was waiting for my daugther to finish her interview, I asked if I can make an appointment with an immigration officer about a case. The answer was "No, we don't give any information here about your case. You should make an INFOPASS appnt and go to LA DO."
