Going for CP while after 6 Yr H1 extn is on hold

Has anyone left US for CP, while their H-1 extension was pending (actually on hold!) after 6 years?

I am going to be in the same boat in another month, and would like to hear any (bad) experiences .. (like, if consulate understands the status to be OK, and doesn\'t make fuss about it etc ..)

What does your lawyer have to say about your situation...have u applied for extension close to the expiration date ??

Consulates abroad don\'t understand 7th year extensions. Your case might be denied at CP. Be cautious.

Hi best, Can u explain how to validate your statement. Here is the reply for related questions from my HR people,
My 6 yr limit on H1 is expiring on July 31, 2001. ie. my visa stamp is also expiring same time.
We already had applied for 7th yr extension.
I have following questions regarding this 7th yr extension.

1. Am I going to receive new H1 petition for this extension ?
Yes, you will receive the H-1 petition for this extension.
2. Can I get my visa stamp revalidate for this new extension ? (either in USA or abroad)
Yes, you can revalidate by mail, abroad or Canada.
3. If I don\'t get new visa stamp, what option is available to travel abroad and still re-enter United States ?
You should not have a problem getting the stamp.
4. How is it applicable to dependents ?
Your spouse will get the extra year on her H-4 as well.

             I am also in the same boat my six year H1 expiring in sep 2001. PD Apr 2000. I140 cleared. Roy, why do you want go for CP. I think applying from here is safer.
