Glitch in dv 2015 entry form

What's good guys

So today I tried to submit my dv 2015 entry. I checked the photo, filled the entry form/uploaded a photo, then clicked 'continue' - it gave me a preview screen, I checked everything and clicked 'continue'. However after that instead of the confirmation page the system gave me initial part one entry screen only without any buttons, most importantly a continue button. So the only thing I can do is close the page.

Anyone encountered this? The big question is has the system received my entry or not. And my dilema is I either redo the entry risking disqualification if the previous entry have been accepted or I wait till may 2014 and then try to retrieve the confirmation number by entering personal info, provided the system actually received it. I will go with first option unless someone can advise me otherwise. Thanks.

I would redo the entry if I were you - if you didn't get the entry number your entry wasn't completed. It seems to prefer Internet Explorer

I did just that, got confirmation number and all although I still don't know if previous entry went through or not. I must say though that this years entry is real hard on my browsers for some reason. I first tried Mozilla and on dvlottery.state.gov it didn't even show anything related to dv2015, only dv2013/2014 status check. Then I went Chrome and it showed dv 2015 but I got into the abovementioned trouble. Then I went officially recommended IE but it kept giving me some bs about blocking parts of the website with certificate errors which in effect blocked me from submitting the entry. I then did some reading about this issue, went 'IE (no add-ons)' and everything finally worked fine.

Yeah agreed - it is a very picky process - but then the Americans don't write the best websites do they (Obamacare as an example). Anyway - good luck.

If they just subcontract it to India as usual, then they probably wouldn't have this problem.;)

On topic: I would re-enter until I have the confirmation number. Based on my understanding of computer systems, if you don't get a confirmation number then the submission is not successful. The confirmation number must be generated and entered into their database along with your data, so no number means no data (no entry).

You're right but what if it generated the confirmation number but instead of confirmation page showed me this defunct entry page:confused: that was my reservation. Anywho I already resubmitted the entry, so it's only waiting from now on.

Thanks for your input guys.

Bro,

I wouldn't have re-submitted it without checking it with the KCC first. This is because there are chances that you entry was submitted but you didn't get a confirmation number. If this is the case, then you are facing an instant disqualification based upon multiple applications.

Having said that, even if you didn't re-submit you don't have a confirmation number so there was NO way you could check on May 1, 2104 whether you are a winner or not. As under no circumstances KCC or any other person can provide you with your confirmation number.

Good Luck !

Well I already did so...however what is the procedure of checking it through KCC? Is it a formal one or you mean just sending them a letter asking if there's an entry?

Also you CAN retrieve your confirmation number (at least for dv2014). Go to status check page and click 'forgot confirmation number?'. You just need to know your personal info and email entered in reg form.

Mr Power is dreaming about a process where KCC will look at the entries and do a check amonst 10 Million plus entries. I don't think that exists.

Further - you are absolutely correct that contrary to what Mr Power said you could retrieve your number if you did not have it.

Don't worry Aledo - you did right.

For real? Goodluck getting KCC to provide you with that information!

I had the same problem a few hours ago, I clicked on Continue on the preview page and every buttons just disappeared and it didn't redirect me on the confirmation page, I was just stuck on the preview page. I thought it was because i took too long (30mn), so I went back on the main page, did another entry and got my confirmation number.

But now i'm so scared that the system actually received my first entry and that I just disqualified myself because I'm sure I clicked on Continue the first time, even though it didn't move me to the confirmation page. I mean it's a government website, not just a random website, it must've gotten my first entry i think, even in the "online help" page it says you get to the confirmation page and your entry is received when you press on that "continue" button.

My browser is Safari. I hope they can detect we didn't do it on purpose and we don't get disqualify :( Do we know if we are disqualified or will it be the same message as someone not selected when the time comes?

The best answer we can give is that if you dont see a confirmation number then your first try dd not work. So you tried again which is what I would ave done. So I think you won't be disqualified. However there is no way to tell later - there is no difference between what you see as disqualified and not selected (assumining someone would have reported seeing a you have Benin disqualified message).
