Giving up GC

This country is in such a mess that I no longer see much future here. I'd hate to see half of my paycheck going to Afghanistan or Iraq, or the bailout package.
Amid of this financial turmoil, I started to wonder why I have been working so hard, paying my mortgage on time, better yet, I even pay my CC bill in full and save! Being a responsible citizen earns you nothing more than a big fat tax bill or may be a stupid GC in my case.
Now, I'd like to know how I can get rid of my GC? Just leave this country and never return? Will it jeopardize my chance of getting a tourist visa in the future?

Formally giving up GC will not -- as opposed to giving up citizenship -- cause you any future problems coming back temporarily.

Because there is crisis in america doesnt mean america is over. Come on be a visionaire.
do you have a Warranty once leaving in your country, things will be better.
think twice my friend.

After leaving the US, file form I-407 to officially surrender the card. You will be able to obtain temporary visas after that, provided you don't have any disqualifying conditions (criminal record etc.).
