Hi,

My employer filed my GC mentioning technologies such as Oracle, TCP/IP, Powerbuilder and windows NT and job title as Software Programmer/ Analyst. Now I am planning to change my job using AC-21 form and my designation will be Sr. Software Engineer/ Lead Developer with Oracle, J2EE, Java and Websphere. Also there will be a salary difference of about 40k (as per what's mentioned in my GC application), Although presently I am making close to what I will be getting in the new job.

Should I go forward and join the new company or will it be a problem?

Thanks,
GeCe

Job title should not matter as much as the description of the job itself.
for e.g., if ur LC was approved for u designing "chairs" then u r fine even if the new job requires u to design "tables". however, if the new job required u too design and electric motor, then there is no AC21.

what u can do is to make sure that even the job titles don't match, the job description in the new evl should be alteast 75% similar to ur the original job info. as in the LC.

so change of technologies with the new company will fall under designing tables or designing electric motors?
Although, I will be working with the new company as a software engineer, with job resposibities will be coding and designing of software application, but the technology set will be very different.
And what about the salary part? Does that effect as well...

So what? You're still doing software design. This is the equivalent of building chairs with nails, and then using glue in the new job.

It can raise an eyebrow or two. Are you making 40k more, or less?
