getting out of contract with employer

Hi,
I've had an H1 from Oct '06 with a consultant but they have failed to place me anywhere so far and not paid anything. I now have an EAD from my spouse's GC application and would like to get out. This would breach the one year contract i signed and i'll have to pay money. Any ideas on how to handle this situation correctly with the consultant to get out with minimum hassle? Thanks.

---------------------Send complaint to DOL and recover your wages.Employer has violated H1 regulations/law/terms. employer cant keep you on bench ot table and to find project is not your job it is employer job, project or no project employer need to pay you

--------------send them letter,email or fax for your wages and keep the evidence of your email, letter, fax and the reply of employer
